I have never seen anyone charge 5%. It is usually 10-15%. In fact, if your buddy got arrested again in such a short time, they might require 15% since he is now a high risk.

By the way…..you won’t get your money back.

Good luck on finding a bondsman for 5%. The fact that he was arrested so fast after being released would indicate a high risk to me=no discount. Be careful! Do you also risk loosing a vehicle or real estate?

I don’t think there’s any 5% rate. The governent set it as 90% for the bail bond man and 10% for you.

Why would you even consider risking a penny on someone who’s already proven he’s a bad risk??? Let him sit in jail until the case is resolved… it doesn’t normally take very long, and if you keep bailing him out, he’ll have NO reason to reform…

10 % is the fee and they won’t budge. They are in business to make money.

And if the fool was stupid enough to get arrested again, there is a good chance you will lose your money and have to pay up again.

Finally, some states allow property bonds where you can file papers with the court as your bail collateral. This can also be done with a bail bond agent.
When “posting your own bond” probably means is paying the cash up front. One warning, however, when you pay cash to the jail you usually don’t get it back because it can be applied to your fines, fees, restitution, etc. They cannot do this with a bail bond from a surety company.
