Soon as he was out you should have gotten your money back. I don’t think you are responsible for his fines. But they have to be paid. Will he?

If the bondsman is made to pay the court for the bond, then you are responsible to repay the bondsman. Read your contract very carefully.

Read the fine print. If you put up the money, you’re responsible for his actions. When you bail out of jail, you’re also not supposed to commit more crimes.

No you are not responsible.

The bond you paid, was only to insure he showed up for his first court date.

Him being arrested again, has no bearing on the matter.

As long as he does show up for his first court date, you will not forfeit the bond.

You are under no obligation to post bond for him again.

Actually if he stays in jail, then you know he will show up for the first court date.

I dont know of any bonding company that can hold you to any “Fines”. However, if they financed a bond for you, you are still responsible for paying them off, even though he’s in custody on other charges. Also, unles he’s back in the same jail you bonded him out of, I would notify the clerks office that holds your bond, in writing, and let them know where he is. Some will not transport for court dates if not given enough notice.

There are 2 scenarios. Assume that bail was $5,000.

#1 - You posted the entire $5,000 bond with cash or collateral. The DA will motion to revoke the bond in arrest #1 but a hearing will be held on the merits. If the judge revokes bond, you lost $5,000.

#2 - You paid a bail bondsman 10%, $500, and he pledged the $5,000 bond. Same as #1, if bond is revoked, the bail bondsman comes after you for the entire $5,000 - minus the $500 fee, for a total of $4,500.

Regardless if your son is in another jail, you will owe the bail bondsman $4,500 unless you can provide any defense - maybe hiring an attorney will help.
